Hi, I’m Bruce.
With over two decades of legal and executive experience navigating complex business landscapes, Bruce Maclean has built a career as a trusted executive leader and senior lawyer.
I have expertise in international and domestic transactions, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and high-stakes negotiations. Whether I am untangling shareholder disputes or advising on commercial strategy, I bring a practical, business-minded approach to transactional problem-solving.
My industry experience is diverse and extensive encompassing pharmaceuticals, insurance, natural resources and technology. As the Head of Legal at LocalCover Group, I led legal and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, managed high-profile investment transactions, and played a key role in shaping innovative warranty and insurance products in various jurisdictions.
Before that, I served as Legal Manager at International Underwriters Group, handling regulatory inquiries, drafting policies, and negotiating consumer protection agreements for Australia and New Zealand.
Before accepting corporate leadership roles, I ran my own firm, Maclean Law, where I advised clients on a wide range of commercial transactions, including tax disputes, software licensing, and intellectual property. My career also includes time as Managing Partner at Ernst & Young Law and Andersen Legal, where I led teams through major acquisitions and corporate restructures. My early legal career included working with top firms like Russell McVeagh McKenzie Bartleet & Co, where I managed significant cross-border deals.
I value communication and strategic thinking while balancing risks with business goals. I have also participated in regulatory and parliamentary inquiries in both New Zealand and Australia.
Bruce is a keen cook and enjoys swimming, pets and family events. He is originally from South Auckland and has lived in many parts of the city, but mainly on the North Shore in recent years.
In his youth, he spent several years in Arizona with his family attending junior high and high school.
